Adult Baptism

Adults and youth are customary baptized at Easter Virgil every year. Interested adults and youth attend the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) in preparation for Baptism.

RCIA is the process by which we welcome and initiate new adult members (including non-Catholic Christians) into the Catholic Church. We help them to discern God's call and to be formed by the Gospel of Jesus in their journey of faith together. They are accompanied by sponsors and each new journey begins after Easter. All who are interested in to know the Catholic faith are welcome.

To learn more about Baptism for adults and youth, please contact any sponsor of Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) or the Parish Office.

Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.
