We are lay people specially appointed by the Church to make Christ known, loved, and followed by those who do not yet know Him and by the faithful themselves. We are witnesses of Christ in the community. We are called to share our faith with children, young people, and adults with the aim of teaching them to meditate on the Word of God in personal prayer, practice it in liturgical prayer and internalize it at all times in daily life in order to bear fruits in a new life.

At the heart of Catechesis is the Person of Jesus Christ. To catechize is to reveal in the Person of Christ the whole of God's eternal design reaching fulfilment in that Person. It is to seek to understand the meaning of Christ's actions and words and of the signs worked by Him. It has to reveal in all clarity the joy and demands of the way of Christ. Catechesis aims at putting people in communion with Jesus Christ because only He can lead us to the love of the Father in the Spirit and make us share in the life of the Holy Trinity.

In Catechesis,Christ, the Incarnate Word and Son of God is taught. Everything else is taught with reference to Him. We, who are called to teach Christ, must first seek to know Him, love Him, and become like Him in His suffering and sacrifice. From this loving knowledge of Christ, springs our desire to proclaim Him and lead others to faith in Him. The first and last point of reference of all Catechesis must always be Jesus Christ himself who is "the Way, the Truth, and the Life."
